Domaine du Grand Arc

by Fabienne and Bruno Schenck

COUNTRY: France
REGION: Languedoc-Roussillon
APPELLATION: AOC Corbieres

Located south of the Corbières appellation, in the town of Cucugnan, the area is marked by the most beautiful castles in the Cathar country. Fabienne and Bruno Schenck created the estate in 1995 and it now has 25 ha of vines, sometimes very old, with Carignans more than a century old, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre.

The mountainous area offers a very favorable climate for the production of aromatic and balanced wines. The vineyard is frequently swept by the Cers, the powerful ally of the winemaker who cleans the grapes and promotes maturation. The red wines draw from this clay-limestone and siliceous soil the essential nutrients for a rich and complex expression.

A vineyard management without fertilizer or insecticide thanks to an observation of bio-indicators of fauna and flora, the respect of a balance of production by strain, a careful evaluation of the maturity of the grape, a strict selection of the harvest (always by hand) allow wine making entirely without sulfur, without yeasting, or added products, but without giving up our quality requirements for your satisfaction.

Wine Region:

LangueDoc-roussillon

Much of the fertile plains of Languedoc-Roussillon have been dedicated to agriculture and viniculture. One of the major wine growing regions in France, the historic area of Languedoc encompassed a far larger portion of Southern France including much of Provence and current Occitanie; Roussillon, on the other hand, is significantly smaller and just about the area of the East Pyrenees.

About one-third of all vines used in French viniculture are in this area. The climate of this somewhat dry region – with the some parts of the area receiving the least amount of rain in the entire country – as well a strong winds coming from off coast, aid the region in sustaining high levels of organic production and contribute to its standing as the leader in French organic winemaking.
