Il Carpino is a boutique winery located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in northeastern Italy near the Slovenian border, renowned for its commitment to natural winemaking and terroir driven white wines. Founded by the Sosol family, the estate has gained recognition for producing deeply expressive wines that reflect both tradition and innovation. The vineyards are planted on the region’s distinctive “ponca” soils a mix of marl and sandstone combined with a cool climate influenced by both the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. This unique terroir allows for slow ripening and the development of wines with structure, minerality, and aromatic complexity. Specializing in indigenous varietals such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, and Malvasia, Il Carpino follows a low intervention philosophy, including extended skin contact, native yeast fermentation, and minimal sulphur use. The result is a range of textured, complex wines with depth, freshness, and a strong sense of identity.
