De Martino’s “Ungrafted” is a distinctive project within the winery’s portfolio, focused on producing wines from rare, ungrafted vines an increasingly uncommon practice in modern viticulture. These original rootstock vines are prized for their ability to express terroir in its purest form, delivering wines with exceptional authenticity and precision. Sourced from historic vineyards in regions such as Itata (Guarilihue) and Maipo (Isla de Maipo), the Ungrafted range highlights old vines, granite and alluvial soils, and a strong connection to Chile’s winemaking heritage. The vineyards are often dry-farmed, manually worked, and cultivated under sustainable practices, preserving both tradition and site expression. The winemaking approach is deliberately minimal, using native yeasts and traditional techniques to avoid masking the character of the vineyard. The result is a collection of wines such as Cinsault, Muscat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec that are pure, expressive, and deeply reflective of their origin.
