Raised in Stellenbosch and trained in Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University, she brings both technical expertise and a deep connection to the land to her craft. With international experience across France, New Zealand, and Australia, Nadia Barnard combines global perspective with a strong belief in minimal intervention winemaking. Since joining Waterkloof in 2009 and becoming head winemaker in 2013, she has played a key role in shaping the estate’s identity, focusing on purity, balance, and wines that reflect their origin. Her philosophy centers on working in harmony with nature embracing organic and biodynamic practices, native yeasts, and gentle winemaking techniques to preserve the integrity of the vineyard.
